Bespoke Woodturning in Hampshire
Since retiring from commercial life as a Food & Drink marketer in 2018, I've been indulging my passion for working with wood. Inspired by a truly exceptional woodwork teacher whilst at school in Lancaster (a long time ago) and after more recent refresher courses at Axminster, I've had lots of fun re-learning the techniques involved in hand-crafting pieces from wood.

I do this for fun, and am happy to consider turning or making any small piece as a bespoke woodworking project. I prefer turning to any other form of woodwork, though if the project is sufficiently interesting I'll take on non-turning jobs. As a Hampshire woodturner & woodworker, I love creating custom woodturned items and handmade wooden gifts. I offer local wood craftsmanship across Hampshire, creating artisan wood products and woodwork services for those seeking unique, handcrafted items.
The Wood Workshop
Despite the sign, I have a Wood Workshop - not a Woodwork Shop. (I was constrained by the shape!!) All the turning I undertake is bespoke and to order, so there's really only what I have in the cottage to see at any one time. Some of which is pictured on the site here.
Feel free to call in to chat about potential projects and what I can do, but text/whatsapp or email me first to make sure I'm here.
I'm often asked how much it will cost? The answer: I don't turn for money, it's a hobby. But I do charge for time spent turning, and for any timber I need to source from my supplier.

My Woodworking Journey
I was persuaded, after a few beers at Christmas just before the Covid pandemic, to set up a small business, by my wife & daughters, all heavily into crafting themselves. I’d spent the previous year playing with a small lathe in my workshop. I'd picked up a few small 'commissions' in the year from people who found the 'business' via googlemaps - the sort of things that either can't be undertaken by the bigger commercial suppliers, or else would simply be too expensive to undertake. My first commissioned work was to replace a set of pan handles on a 30 year-old set of Prestige pans, received as a wedding present and with much nostalgic value.
